Ice Cream – Rocky Road! The chocolate, the marshmallows, the nuts, you just can’t get any better. Except for sometimes jamoca almond fudge …
Marshmallows – OBSESSION! I’ve always been obsessed with marshmallows! The sugar, the awesome sponginess, the way they dissolve in your mouth, the whiteness, the simplicity, the non-food like cylindrical shape! Peeps! Chocolate covered marshmallows! You could fill a McDonald’s ball pit with marshmallow type objects. I try to keep away from marshmallows because I can’t not eat them. Did you know marshmallows have been around since the time of ancient Egypt? There is a marshmallow root. Only those ancient marshmallows were nothing like the extruded confections of today. Isn’t it strange to see packaged marshmallow that is not the little cylinder shape??
Vanilla – another major obsession. Everything (sweet) is better with some vanilla in it! We have probably all made the startling discovery that we thought vanilla ice cream was just “an absence of other flavors,” and then found that vanilla IS a flavor! Plain ice cream would not be vanilla without vanilla! Love to sniff vanilla from the bottle; it sends me into bliss land.
Almonds – last major obsession. MARZIPAN! Marzipan made into little fruits! It is so amazing that almonds on their own are hardly even worth eating, but mix them with sugar, and they become marzipan, food for the kings! I don’t even know what to say about marzipan except that it is like a drug, it is so supremely delicious. It is like the royalty of food. And it’s also kind of “undiscovered.” Why do people obsess on chocolate when there is marzipan? Chocolate is almost pedestrian in comparison. Marzipan is a competitor to chocolate!! Someday marzipan will take on chocolate and maybe beat it. Marzipan is probably more expensive than chocolate to produce, and hence more valuable.
Vegetables – green beans are the best, love cauliflower (though hard to spell), love artichokes. Garlic is great – the smell, the health benefits – I’ve been taking a garlic pill every day for decades. Others that are okay are broccoli, cucumbers, and many others. Vegetables I don’t like are cooked greens. Too bad. They are so good for you, and Mike loves them.
