- Choose a partner who meets your top needs.
- Marry someone with high moral character, preferably that you meet at church.
- Marry someone you’re comfortable, happy, and have a good time with.
- Marry someone you’ll want to have sex with for the rest of your life.
- Try to not go into marriage with illusions. Be realistic about the other person.

- Share the responsibility of disciplining the kids with your spouse. Don’t just do the fun stuff with the kids.
- Share household chores with your spouse.
- Do what your spouse needs you to do.
- Sit and talk for 15 minutes every day. May follow formula: daily events, questions, hopes & dreams.
- Pray daily with your spouse. Start off the day that way.
- Provide comfort when your spouse needs it … physical comfort or whatever.
- Never be alone with someone of the opposite sex who is not your spouse.
- Men – read The Four Love Languages (or whatever the book by Gary Smalley is) – know what type of gift your spouse needs, and act accordingly.
- Women – read The Surrendered Wife.
