- Crying releases both pain and toxins.
- Journal – there’s nothing like writing to express pain poetically; to think through problems and possible solutions; or to help you to “write about it and then forget about it.”
- Cultivate friends you can be completely honest with; start a support group.
- Be self-deprecating – don’t try to uphold an ideal image of yourself – be open about your faults.
- If you’re depressed, take a day off to feel sorry for yourself; then get back to things.
- Give yourself a pat on the back when you fail – it means you tried something, and it means you are humbled, which is good.
- Hard times make us turn to God, which is good.
- Hard times make up examine our faults, which is good.
- When things go wrong, look first at how you might have caused it.
- Be easy on yourself – progress through overcoming faults and learning life lessons takes many lifetimes (though it’s ultimately easier to get the job done as quickly as possible).
- Whenever you have a problem of any sort, do internet research, and read several books on the subject.
- Failure is little worse than success. Life is mainly about learning life lessons, period. Though life is also about helping others, and success may be a sign that you’re succeeding in helping others.
- Look for the life lesson in everything that happens. If you have learned from something that happened, then it didn’t happen in vain. Remember that earthly time is an illusion; that time is really measured in life lessons learned.
- When you are or feel “trapped” (can’t sleep, prison, waiting for something, traffic jam, etc.), count your blessings, pray, and talk with God. There’s just no alternative. Feeling hateful and plotting revenge is not a good alternative.
- When you feel bad in any way, drink tea. If that doesn’t work, go out for Chinese food. If that doesn’t work, eat ice cream and pie.
- If you’re having really hard times, it may be time for an adventure, or a new start. Go for a trip. Travel the world.
- Most importantly, do not self-destruct, under any circumstances. Things WILL get better. People who commit suicide destroy their lives, destroy the lives of their loved ones, and they destroy their time in the afterlife, as they have to live with the effects of what they’ve done, and watch the grief of those on earth.
- The same goes for any rash act that would put you behind bars. Things would have gotten better, but you’ll be stuck in prison
