- Listen to your intuition and hunches.
- Be aware of human foibles and pitfalls and try to avoid them. See “Pitfalls” under “writings.”
- People need to constantly reinvent themselves. Always challenge yourself to become a new and improved person; sometimes in major ways.
- If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. If you’re succeeding at everything, take on a harder challenge! (from Failing Forward)
- If there’s something you want to do, but you don’t know if you have it in you: COMMIT FIRST, FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT SECOND. This is something I’ve experienced again and again. If you commit to doing something, then the universe will conspire to help you. God will help you (as long as you’re exerting yourself to the upmost). People will help you. You’ll figure out how to do it. You’ll find the strength and resources. You’ll get brilliant ideas. (This will happen if you’ve made a habit of always trying to do things right – of being virtuous.) Read the book, The Alchemist, which refers to some of this.
- Perfect fairness exists, but not in this world. Due to the laws of karma, nobody “gets away with” anything, ultimately. If people do not experience consequences for their misdeeds in this life, they will experience them in another life. If people have hurt someone in this life, they will have to repay them in another. Therefore we should give feedback in a loving way, but don’t have to worry in a way about fairness.
- In most things in life, “you gotta shop around,” as the song says. In looking for a church, therapist, or other “services,” it’s hard to find a good one or a good fit. So it’s a good thing to try many, until you find someone really helpful.
