- Bring your lunch rather than buying it.
- Cook dinner rather than buying it.
- Create leftovers on purpose, and eat them through the week.
- Learn to cook favorite dishes from scratch.
- Don’t go to movie theaters.
- If you have to go to a movie theater, don’t buy food there.
- Don’t order drinks in restaurants.
- Buy things used.
- Clean your house yourself – learn to enjoy cleaning.
- Learn to fix things yourself.
- Cultivate inexpensive tastes. Try not to develop a taste for bottled water, fine wine, live entertainment, private schools, exotic vacations, designer clothes, precious jewels, original art or expensive cars (unless you can easily pay for them!)
- Find “dive” restaurants that you like.
- Chain restaurants often have more tasty food and larger portions than expensive restaurants.
- Be a frugalista!
