When I think of my husband
I see a good-looking man sprawled in my bed,
Gold tousled hair, bronze skin, moustache, noble features,
Sleeping.
Always exhausted from
Taking our boys on their hockey adventures,
Saving the downtrodden through his work,
Fixing our house.
Lying next to him recharges me,
His touch heals me.
His words make me happy,
His jokes make me laugh.
We sleep next to each other,
He says some nice things to me,
We work together,
And that’s enough.
